Last week grade 2/3 had Paul for the day on Monday. We played a times table game when you get in to two groups. The first person in line had to be asked a question Paul had to time how long it took to answer the question.

On Tuesday we had Jigsaw instead of having Kaye we had Mark. We played some new games.

On Thursday it was French day most of the students dressed up. There were seven different activities.
After the activities grade 1/2 did a play. It was about people going to a restaurants and getting kicked out by the chief. At the end the best French dressed boy and girl in every grade got a prize. Zoe and Harry won in our grade, Zoe was a model and Harry was I musketeer.

On Friday nothing really happened.

Nude Food Day

Today wrappers are illegal because it’s Nude Food Day.
I have some strawberries in a container.
Some homemade chocolate brownie in a container.
A chocolate and strawberry biscuit in a container
I also have a ham and butter sandwich in a container.
Our class’s goal was to bring no rubbish for nude food day.
We didn’t bring any rubbish.
Now our class needs to decide on our reward.

Nude Food Day

On Wednesday the 19th of October we had Nude Food Day.

Nude food day is about people who don’t have food with wrappers, who are helping the environment.

I have a salad sandwich, a muesli bar, a rope, two apples, three biscuits, cheezles and grapes.

I packed my muesli bar and my rope in a container together. I packed my sandwich in a sandwich container. My biscuits are packed in a container. My cheezles and grapes are packed in a container.

Nude food day was fun and I’m never going to bring rubbish again because it kills nature and hurts the environment.

Last Week – Week 7

Last week we did the River Story. We started with a tub that had clean water in it. We then all got to have a small container with something in them and a word on the side like ‘gardens’, ‘piggery’ or ‘subdivision’. Then Tara read the story, when we heard our item we had to pour our containers contents into the water. It was all pollution and the water slowly got dirtier and dirtier. We then drew a map of the rivers journey or wrote a letter persuading people/someone to clean and look after the river.

Last week in Jigsaw we learnt about bullying. We pretended that aliens from ‘bbblli’ had come to learn about our world and what bullying is. We also talked about making good choices at school and naming it.

Last week we also got to make up our Humanoids. We all used our names and put …oid on the end. Tara had no teeth and a tail; she also lived under her desk with maths books and ate only chocolate and toe nails. We got to then use our imaginations and ideas to make our own humanoids, some of our ideas were we lived in a nose, the toilet and bag holes. Some of our cool special characteristics (super powers) were talking to animals, laser eyes, invisibility and our poo disappeared.

In Maths we got to play a heads or tails game. We had to decide to be a head or a tail (2 coins added heads and tails as in one of each). The coin then gets flipped and if you get it right you stay in, if you’re wrong you go out. It was a lot of fun. We then predicted what might happen if we have two coins. We then flipped a coin 40 times to see if we were right. We found out that the HT or TH is more likely to come up that HH or TT because there are two different ways it can come up, making it twice as likely.

On Thursday the 18th of August 2011, Malmsbury Primary School had a science night.
First, we saw a rocket being made out of a tea bag. First we took the tag off, then we took the string off, then we took the nuts and bolts out (took the staples out), then took the fuel out (the tea), then they made it into a cylinder, then they made it stand up, then David lit the top of it with a match, then it went flying into the air. There can’t be a breeze of wind and you can’t put it on a wet surface. But you need to use Lipton tea bags. 

Next we had a challenge we had to make the tallest possible tower out of 30 match sticks, a rubber band and a 2cm blue tack. 

Next people went there separate ways. Sol, Percy and Dom made goo. Out of cornflower, food dye and water. We used all the colours. It was really messy. If you like being clean don’t do it.
Then we made marshmallows. By getting a marshmallow and putting food die on it and putting it in a microwave for 20 seconds.

After that we put ink on our hands then on a piece of paper we saw our finger prints and hand prints.

Science night was AWESOME!!!!

Week 4

This week we had a guest speaker (Miles Geldard) and he told us about endangered animals. He told us that habitats are where they live and what they eat. He told us how old a tree is, if it is as fat as one person it is 100 Years old.

Our grade made an A-Z animal booklet an A is for alligator and for B is for bearded dragon. We made one letter each and if you were lucky you got to do two.

We have been learning about animals habitats and what they eat like a sugar gliders eats berries. Koalas eat eucalyptus leaves.

CERES

On Monday we went to CERES in Melbourne.
The first activity we did was the Merri creek walk with a lady called Tiff. She told us about a family of ABORIGINALS.
Then of a little girl walking her dog on the trail who was shocked by all the rubbish.
Then she told us CERES used to be a junk tip.

Then we went to the worm farm.
Zarli and I were scared to hold a worm.
Then we had to dig around and look for worms and other mini-beasts.
Mietta and I found two big worms and three baby worms.

Then we did a rubbish education session.
It was so boring!!!
Then we did a rubbish race.
We were put in to three different groups.
We had to line up and get a piece of rubbish then the person had to run and put them in to the right bins then runs back and tap their hand and then the next person runs and puts the rubbish into the right bin then so on and so on.

Then Ken the bus driver drove us back and on the way back we got to listen to music. It was so so FUN!!!!

Then we went back to school and it was home time.
